Hope laid her first egg of the season at 9:32am today, 13 March 2016.
Congratulations, Hope and E2!

p.s. Here’s why she isn’t sitting on the eggs yet: http://www.birdsoutsidemywindow.org/peregrine-faqs/question-sitting-on-eggs-or-not/
E2 came in at 10.07 to greet Hope and his egg!
Yes! Go Hope! Puts her on schedule for hatchlings right around graduation again! And Memorial Day fledgewatches!
I’m so glad Hope chose the “Taj Mahal”of nesting sites 😉
Hurra ! 🙂 <3
Please can someone tell me what has happened to Dorothy???
kp, Dorothy disappeared in November. Here’s the story http://www.birdsoutsidemywindow.org/2015/12/02/the-queen-is-dead-long-live-the-queen/ And here’s a video tribute to her: http://www.birdsoutsidemywindow.org/2015/12/03/a-tribute-to-dorothy/
Congratulations Hope and E2 on your first egg! Hope we have you both for many years to come and many babies for you both.
As of 7:21pm, it looks like there are now two eggs!
Stacyj, there’s a red metal circle in nest that might look like an egg but it’s not
Ah, d’oh, sorry for the false alarm =)
I’ve been watching off and on all day. Why isn’t she sitting on the egg?
Sure Hudson, unlike bald eagles, peregrines wait to incubate until the next to last egg is laid. This means all the eggs hatch in 24 hours. Here’s more info: http://www.birdsoutsidemywindow.org/peregrine-faqs/question-sitting-on-eggs-or-not/
Kate, great info on the incubation process. I was getting worried that something was wrong.
Yes, Kate…thx for info. Had no idea.
What is the red stone in the nesting box. I first saw this Stone just before Dorothy left I have been watching it ever since. Every time I see this Stone I think of Dorothy letting a part of her behind.
Patty, the red stone is actually a metal or plastic punch-out that blew into the nest. I suspect that it either blew away or Hope / E2 moved it out of the way.
It appears you and I were on the same wave length. On December 25th in Kate’s daily blog titled “odd goose”, I thought the same thing regarding Dorothy. Kate said it was Hope and not Dorothy.
Egg #2 at 5:07 pm (according to the clock on my computer) on March 15. Way to go, Hope! Congrats to E2, too.
Any sightings of Dori and Louie at Gulf? Should we be concerned about them being MIA for the past week or so?
Pa Gal, regarding Dori & Louie, it’s time to be puzzled but not concerned for their welfare.
Second egg at Cathedral!
Thanks, Kate, puzzled sounds better than concerned. It was looking good that they would return to Gulf Tower, but maybe not. Sure hope that all is well with them.
Will the falcon couple take turns sitting on the eggs like the bald eagles do?
Nicole, the female incubates at night. During the day they switch off.
When can we expect a third egg?
Nicole, peregrines usually lay an egg every other day.
I haven’t seen E2 at the nest since the second egg was layed. Is this cause for concern?
Dee, the camera view is so small that E2 can be very close but out of view. I believe he was there but not in view.
