Good Mom!

This picture is not recent — it was taken on May 4 — but I knew you’d like it.

This is Storm, the female peregrine at the Westinghouse Bridge, protecting her nest and eggs.  Her chicks hatched some time before May 21 (we’re not sure when; there’s no webcam) so her babies are about a week to ten days younger than those at the Gulf Tower.

She’s very protective.

What a good mom!

  1. Great photo! Do we know if all 5 eggs hatched? Has Beth banded them yet? Hope you have a great fledge watch today!

  2. You’re right – I did enjoy the picture of Val I only wonder how someone was able to catch it at just the right time! And where will all the new babies end up…… 15 that we know of….hope they all survive!

  3. But did our COL youth fly yet? Of all times for the streaming to be down…
I keep my eye on the still camera when I can and it is sure looking like the kids are ready.
I bet our Dorothy is so looking forward to an empty nest…The kids are brutal when dinner is trying to be served.

  4. This photo reminds me of Dorothy on banding day – “Don’t even think about touching my babies!” Good mom, indeed.

  5. What a great pose! I know she’s being protective, but it almost looks like she’s showing them off for the camera.

  6. Happy to know that we have another family of falcons in the area – good luck to Beth on banding day – this falcon means business.
