Here’s a snow bunting whose winter plumage is makes him hard to see on partially snow-covered ground.
His eye is like a dark pebble, his brown cheek and necklace like mud between the melting snow.

Kate, I read your blog most every day and I know people who photograph birds
and I refer your URL whenever I can. Thank you for capturing beauty, I used to
prefer to look for leaves but on the way there were some birds tagging along.

Great photo…hope I can see some and photograph this winter…along with a lifer Lapland Longspur…
