Thanks Dana for this update picture. Have been watching for a picture of a juvenile in flight. You have an infinite about of patience! Your photography skills are “right up there”.
Your patience and presence at the Hays site is greatly appreciated, as this is not something that I can avail myself of.
For those of us who aren’t experienced birdwatchers: is there a way to identify a juvenile eagle in flight (high in the sky) as opposed to hawks, vultures, etc.?
Thanks!
Kathy, balls eagles are large and they tend to hold their wings out very flat when soaring. I think of them as having “wings like planks.” Vultures hold their wings in a V. Red-tails tend to hold them flatter but turn up their wing tips.
Glad to see them in flight. When I drive in that area I’m always looking toward the sky with one.
