Yesterday I fretted that Dori and Louie might not nest at the Gulf Tower because they hadn’t been seen there since February 20. I was so concerned that they might be using their old nest site on Third Avenue that I went over there at 5:00pm to find them. But no peregrines.
This morning I pulled two motion detection images from the Gulfcam and found out why they weren’t at Third Avenue.
Here they are after everyone left for the weekend!
Just after 5:50 pm Friday, Louie was moving so fast he was a blur. 🙂
Woo hoo!

Awesome Kate! Dori and Louie are teaching you patience! 🙂
WHAT GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why does it say “OK” on the back wall of the nest box?
Sara, the initials ‘DK’ appeared after Gulf Tower maintenance cleared the weeds out of the nest in January. Perhaps DK is the person who did it.
Sara, Just saw this comment. Someone wrote their initials “DK” on the back of the nestbox — perhaps when it was cleaned in late Jan 2015.
Just wanted to share the sad news that Belle (Dorothy’s 2003 offspring) did not return to the University of Toledo nest this spring. Allen, though, remains our resident male; he’s been courting a new female (unbanded) for two weeks, with plenty of bowing and scraping.
Thank you for the news from Toledo, Cynthia. Sadly, Belle’s fight last year felt like a foreshadowing of things to come.
Any recent news here at the Gulf Tower? Haven’t seen ‘anyone’ since you posted this…
Also, there seems to be (continued!) activity at the Cathedral of Learning for the past few days. Does anyone know by now if this is Dorothy or a new bird?
Thank you!
P.S.: That falcon at the Cathedral seems to be banded.
Annette, yes the Gulf Tower peregrines seem to have chosen a new site. I have been looking but haven’t found it yet.
Meanwhile, the bird at the Pitt nest is indeed Dorothy
Thanks for the info and taking the time to get back to me, Kate!
oh thank goodness. now, they need to get busy and give us some fluffy babys to love 🙂
