Loved this information regarding the peregrine falcons vocalizations. I have a question about how all the feathers suddenly appeared in the Pitt Cathedral nest. Was there a storm or did another bird or a predator try to attack? One day everything lookd normal, and the next day the nest is filled with feathers. I definitely missed something.
Phyllis, the feathers are from a prey item that was plucked at the nest. Up until this point Hope and Terzo have been very careful to prepare the food away from the nest. However, C1 will soon be old enough to eat on his own and he’ll need to know how to pluck the prey and tear it up. The best way to learn this is by watching. His parents have shown him by example. I suspect they will pluck more at the nest in the future.
