This common evening primrose (Oenothera biennis) was blooming on Wednesday, November 9 along the Nine Mile Run Trail in Frick Park.
Last night’s low of 30oF produced a light frost. I wonder if these flowers are still there.

I have a bunch of Evening Primrose plants – more like scads. You can watch them at dusk open their flowers right before your eyes. They have a great lemony smell and the Gold Finches love the seeds. At night during the late summer the sphinx moth’s go crazy over the flowers.
