Can you identify these birds in flight?
Hints:
- Don Weiss took the photo at Merritt Island, Florida.
- I see 6 species. Do you see more?
- The pink ones are my favorite.
- I see wood storks. (But I’m wrong! They are white pelicans.)

The Answer … or at least part of the answer …
- Glossy ibis
- White pelican –> white tail & black doesn’t extend all the way to the body
- Common tern? (Certainly a tern)
- Snowy egret (kc saw yellow feet)
- Great egret
- Roseate spoonbill
- White ibis
Any others?
Quoting something I read once:
There are two kinds of water birds: duck and notaduck.
Sorry 😀
snowy egret, great egret, white ibis, glossy ibis, roseate spoonbill, some kind of gull or tern in front
Oooooo, kc! I didn’t see the snowy egrets. Do you see wood storks at the back? If so we now have 7 species
I don’t see the wood stork though I am squinting at the photo. I think there is a snowy egret above the great egrets. It think I see yellow feet.
kc, I’m wrong about the wood storks. Those are white pelicans. (ducking my head in shame)
