This bird looks like a sparrow or maybe a thrush but he isn’t either one of those.

One more clue: There are 43 species in his genus but only 2 occur in the continental U.S.

American pipit. I knew it was a pipit. Had to look up the American part.
Is it a female house finch?
The colors are similar but this bird is actually an American pipit. One clue is that the pipit’s beak is not a conical shake for cracking seeds.
