Thursday morning’s freezing temperature did not affect the redbud trees in Frick Park. I hope it didn’t harm the wildflowers we saw on Wednesday at Enlow Fork in Greene County.
Check the captions for what’s blooming now.

Yesterday, in Mingo Creek County Park in Washington County, the Botanical Society of Western PA saw lots of great flowers…Greek Valerian, 4 different varieties of the Toothwort family (Large Leaf Toothwort, Cutleaf Toothwort, Limestone Bittercress, and Bulbous Bittercress), Trout Lilies, Early Saxifrage, Pussytoes, Spring Beauties, Large Flowered Trillium, Dwarf Larkspur, Virginia Bluebells, and I’m sure I’ve forgotten a few. As an added bonus, the butterfly expert among us pointed out an American Painted Lady butterfly laying its eggs on the Pussytoes. It’s a great time to be out in the woods.
